The week against violence in children has begun by underlining the concern that this problem is still quite widespread in Kosovo society. According to NGOs, it is particularly concerning that parents are not ready to cooperate with schools in fighting this phenomenon but at the same time, in many cases, the schools hide acts of violence against children.

Yllka Rugova, pupil at the “Naim Frashëri” elementary school in Pristina, said she witnesses physical and psychological violence in her school at several occasions. In fact, she herself was a victim of psychological violence.

The Kosovo-based NGO “Syri i Vizionit” will organise this week a number of meetings with children in different municipalities of Kosovo to raise awareness of institutions and parents regarding violence against children.
