Displaced Serbs from Đakovica/Gjakovë, in a letter sent to the US Ambassador to Pristina Tracey Ann Jacobson, seek assistance in realization of their basic human rights.

They asked Jacobson to help them enjoy basic rights such as freedom of movement, freedom of religion and protection of the property.

Displaced Serbs say in a letter that those principles are valid for all citizens of the US, the state they respect, and ask whether the same principles are valid and for internally displaced Serbs from Đakovica/Gjakovë.

“You are acquainted with the fact that we are prevented to visit our homes, property and graveyards of our ancestors for 16 years now, let alone other freedoms,” writes the letter.

Internally displaced Serbs have asked to meet with Tracy Ann Jacobson and discuss the problems they are faced with. They have forwarded the letter with the similar content to other embassies in Pristina and major embassies in Belgrade.
