An official source from the Central Election Commission told lajmi.net that members of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), and Vetevendosje election branches informed that they have started preparations for the extraordinary elections. Unable to create institutions, despite the decision of the Constitutional Court and the efforts and meetings of President Atifete Jahjaga with the leaders of political parties, to find an acceptable broadband solution “on “the table,” PDK is considering that elections are an unavoidable solution of the political stalemate.
A senior PDK official admitted that his party has already called representatives of all election branches for a meeting, in order to prepare and organize as good as possible for the elections.
“Being aware of the barricade created by the coalition block and their efforts to create institutions by violating the decision of the Constitutional Court, we have assessed that the only option, although not the desirable one, to overcome this situation, is organizing extraordinary elections,” said this PDK senior official, who preferred to remain anonymous.
“PDK, the President with her engagement as well as the international friends with their messages, tried to overcome the stalemate, however all these factors consider that ultimately, it is better to organize elections than to allow violation of the decision of the Constitutional Court and the Constitution, because this would have been a bad example for our new democracy.”
Therefore, according to this official, being that according to the law, elections have to be held within 45 days, PDK has decided not to waste time and it has already called the meeting of its election headquarters.
