BELGRADE – The association gathering families of Serb and other non-Albanian victims in Kosovo in the period since 1998 to date released on Tuesday that they are eagerly expecting the results of the investigation on corruption in top tiers of EULEX international mission in the southern Serbian province.

The Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons in KiM has been repeating for years that EULEX has done almost nothing, just like UNMIK and KFOR, to discover the truth about war crimes committed against Serbs and other non-Albanians and prosecute the individuals responsible for the crimes, states the release.

The Association notes that the number of identified remains has been on the constant drop for years now and that the figure of identified victims in 2013 totalled as few as nine individuals, while only three cases involving kidnapped and missing Serbs and other non-Albanians have been solved this year.

Despite marked locations of potential mass and individual gravesites, exhumation works have been interrupted and the explanation that was provided was that the stop was due to the lack of fresh information, although the fate of 523 more people, mostly Serbs, has not been solved over the past 15 years, the release notes.

The Association recalled that over 3,500 Serbs, mostly innocent civilians, were kidnapped and murdered during the clashes and after the introduction of the international mission EULEX and arrival of KFOR in Kosovo.

The devastating data shows that not a single originator of murder orders or executor of the crimes has been rightfully sentenced either on their command or execution responsibility, the Association states.

After the officials of the European Commission look into the allegations concerning corruption in EULEX, perhaps the families of people kidnapped and gone missing in Kosovo will finally get the answers to the question as to why truth and justice for Serb victims remain unattainable after over 1.5 decades, the release notes.
