Serbs continue constructing in ‘Kroi i Vitakut’, Albanians not allowed

(TV21)

Serbs in the north broke the agreement with Albanians regarding constructions in Kroi i Vitakut neighbourhood. They continued to construct collective buildings, while they stop Albanians from working in their houses. Albanians of this neighbourhood say that Serbs are being supported by parallel structures, and directly by Belgrade.

Ramadan Istrefi, a local Albanian resident says that for three years now he is trying to build his house, but he is being impeded to do so by the Serbs. He said that inspectors of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north municipality have impeded them. Istrefi said that obstacles are being created only for Albanians.

Albanian representative of Kroi i Vitakut neighbourhood, Nazmi Ismajli, reminded that the agreement signed clearly stated that constructions will only start by both sides, and not unilaterally.

Representatives of “6 +” caucus said that few days ago they met with PDK and LDK leaders, Hashim Thaçi and Isa Mustafa, and discussed about division of ministerial posts; however, according to them, the agreement will only be finalized at the beginning of next week.

Duda Balje, MP of this caucus, told Zëri daily that minorities want at least four ministries.

“Few days ago we discussed with Thaçi and Mustafa, and we think that four ministries should be divided to us as minorities; two for Serbs, one for Bosniaks and one for Turks,” Balje stated.

KOMF: Child abandonment concerning

(All monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

The child abandonment phenomenon continues to be a concern for Kosovo. Irrespective to campaigns and messages sent, the number of abandoned new-borns still remains high.

Organizations dealing with child protection voice their concern over inadequate manner of treatment of abandoned children by the institutions in charge.

In 2013 alone, 52 children were abandoned in Kosovo. Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection (KOMF) published the analysis on protection of children in Kosovo between the ages of 0 to 3 with the motto – “Take me home”.

This report outlined that abandoned children do not have adequate treatment by the institutions in charge.

Deputy Ombudsperson, Shqipe Mala, said that as an Institution they are ready to help regarding the recommendations taken out by the report.
