Jahjaga’s message – Mandate until 2016 (Tribuna)

President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, has responded to reports that the coalition reached between Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) stipulates her stepping down and leaving the post to PDK leader, Hashim Thaci. Jahjaga’s office said in a statement that her five-year mandate extends to 2016 as per the decision of the Constitutional Court.

Stalemate damages Kosovo at the UN (Kosova Sot)

The paper reports that the UN Security Council is expected to meet on 4 December and discuss the latest UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s report on Kosovo and further quotes Kosovo political analysts as saying that they expect the session to contain negative tones regarding the recent political developments in Kosovo. Driton Selmanaj from the Kosovo Democratic Institute said the institutional stalemate will not only be reflected in UN SG’s report but also in the debates between the Security Council member states.

Hoxhaj: Pristina-Belgrade dialogue will continue (Zeri)

Kosovo Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj, participated in a discussion session at the Foreign Policy Committee of the European Parliament, Zeri writes. Hoxhaj spoke about relations between Kosovo and the EU and said that completion of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) negotiations this year was a great achievement for both sides. Hoxhaj also said that the new government of Kosovo will continue the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue immediately and that the process should be concluded with a peace treaty.

AAK withdraws from Pristina-Belgrade dialogue (Koha Ditore)

Koha Ditore writes on its front page that the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has decided not to support the dialogue with Belgrade. Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, MP, announced that AAK is going to withdraw from the Kosovo dialogue team.
Until the last government mandate, the AAK vice president Blerim Shala was the coordinator of the Kosovo team in Pristina-Belgrade dialogue. 

Rexhepi: Regional engagement to fight organized crime (Epoka e Re)

Bajram Rexhepi, the outgoing Minister of Internal Affairs, accompanied by the General Director of the Kosovo Police, Shpend Maxhuni, is participating at the conference of the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Western Balkans, which is being held in Rome. During his speech, Rexhepi stressed that all the countries of the region are obliged to cooperate on fighting organized crime. “This phenomenon does not recognize borders and the complex nature of crime requires regional and international engagement of security agencies, to implement law, prevent and fight crime,” said Rexhepi. 

KLA veterans to protest in front of Pristina University Rectorate (Zeri)

Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) war veterans will stage another protest tomorrow in front of the Pristina University (UP) Rectorate.  The KLA veterans announced that they will not give up their request for the automatic admission of nearly 1,000 students who are children of war martyrs, Zeri reports.
