Hashim Thaci, leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and Prime Minister of Kosovo, will surprise the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with a new compromise proposal after he returns from New York. It is no longer a secret that Thaci doesn’t want to be left out of the new government. Seeing that President Jahjaga doesn’t plan to give away her post and that she enjoys U.S. support, the PDK leader has decided to offer his highest offer to the LDK. An unidentified PDK official told Gazeta Blic that in their meeting with Jahjaga, Thaci will propose to Mustafa that he should become Speaker of the Assembly while he [Thaci] would be reelected Prime Minister and keep the post until 2016. After Jahjaga’s mandate expires in 2016, Thaci would become President and Mustafa would take over the Prime Minister post. “This is the only possible compromise that will be offered to Mustafa,” a source close to Thaci said. “If the LDK doesn’t accept the offer, all options will remain open and we could even go to new elections, because there is no sense for the party that won the elections to be left without a leading post”.
