North Mitrovica: Increased number of robberies and attacks on young (KoSSev)

Citizens of North Mitrovica are disturbed in last couple weeks with frequent assaults and robberies carried out by unknown groups in vicinity of students’ dormitories and Technical School in the town. Citizens who were interviewed lately are particularly upset by rumors on alleged attempts of rape.

Students parliament of the University of Pristina with the seat in North Mitrovica has decided to forward a request today to University, Students’ Center, Provisional Administrative body of Kosovska Mitrovica municipality, EULEX and Kosovo Police requesting joint meeting aiming at addressing recent problems.

On the other side, the head of Kosovo Police for northern Kosovo, Zeljko Bojic, confirmed to KoSSev that Kosovo Police has registered four cases of assaults on citizens, that is robberies, but not a single case of attempted rape. In the same time Bojic said that police managed to shed light on two cases, apprehended eight persons and is in search for two more. He also stressed that citizens have nothing to fear about since police in the North is fully operational.
