Irrespective to dialogue in Brussels, the Government of Kosovo will continue to face difficulties in the north. In case that new Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, wants to visit to Leposavic/Leposaviq this will only be possible with Belgrade’s permit. This is at least what the Mayor of Leposavic/Leposaviq, Dragan Jablanovic, the politician, who at the same time is the father of Kosovo minister for return and communities – Aleksandar Jablanovic.

Leaders of Srpska List continue not to recognise the Republic of Kosovo, no matter that they are part of its institutions. Furthermore, they say that they will not vote in favour of 2015 budget, as nothing has been planned for Serbs in it.

According to them, there are also Albanian Mayors who do not recognise the state of Kosovo, as they have the Albanian flag in their offices, and not the Kosovo flag.

Only 15 per cent of Kosovo property registered under women’s names

(KTV)

Only 15 per cent of Kosovo women have property registered under their own name. Compared to other countries of the region this figure remains very low.  Although with the laws in force the rights of women to inheritance and property are stipulated, this is not applicable in Kosovo.

Norms and customs that prohibit women’s right to father’s property after her marriage were mentioned in a discussion organized by the Women’s Media Centre. Women neither possess property under their name during marriage, as it is considered as husband’s property.

Violeta Kurti-Islami from the Women’s Media Centre, said that everyone must express solidarity with the case of Shyhrete Berisha, who is undergoing a legal process with her brother-in-law, as she is not being allowed to use the property where she lived earlier, with justification that none of her first family members are not among the living.

Declaratively men agree that women are entitled to property; however, there are also among the ones who say that women must choose if she wants property at her father’s or at her husband’s place.
