President Jahjaga criticizes political parties

In her annual speech at the Assembly, the President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga harshly criticized political parties that left Kosovo in a crisis for six months.

Addressing the lawmakers, Jahjaga said that six-month crisis, since the end of elections, revealed the flaws of Kosovo’s new democracy.

She mentioned migration of Kosovo citizens as an issue; the risk that Kosovo is exposed to by extremism, as well as Special Tribunal’s set up.

On the other hand, opposition parties left the Assembly room the moment that President Jahjaga took the floor to address her annual speech before the MPs.

Vetëvendosje, AAK and Nisma për Kosovën accused Jahjaga of enabling, as they call it, ‘Hashim Thaçi’s clique’, to continue remaining in power for another four years.

Mogherini: Kosovo, Serbia PMs to meet in January

The EU High Representative for Foreign affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said that she will invite Kosovo and Serbia Prime Ministers in January to continue dialogue. She made this announcement after the meeting she had with

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, in Brussels.

“We discussed with minister Thaçi about resumption of the high level meetings in the EU facilitated dialogue. I intend to invite the two Prime Ministers to the next high level meeting already in January, and I look forward to continuing our important work on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Prishtinë/Pristina. For the EU and for me personally this remains a high priority,” Mogherini said.

Thaçi, on the other hand, ensured Mogherini about continuation of dialogue with Serbia, as well as fulfilment of obligations that belong to Kosovo.

Assembly approved establishment of 14 committees

In Thursday’s session Kosovo MPs approved establishment of 14 Assembly committees with 81 MPs voted in favour, 28 against and one abstained.

Leaders of PDK and LDK caucuses supported establishment of 14 committees, while lawmakers of opposition parties were not satisfied with the manner of division of these committees.

MP Muja abandons PDK caucus

The recently elected PDK MP Shaip Muja, who got his MP mandate after other PDK MPs left their posts to take over governmental duties, is not agreeing with decisions of this political entity. After being certified by the Central Elections Commission on Wednesday, Muja told media that he was leaving PDK caucus for this matter.

In his statement addressed to Assembly Presidency and the caucus leaders he abandoned, Muja said that he does not agree with human development or strategic policies that were built after elections by PDK. Nonetheless, Muja said that he will not abandon PDK, but he will act as an independent MP.

Hajdari: Urgent action in Kosovo judiciary required

University professor of procedural law, Azem Hajdari, said that the statement made by the President of Kosovo Supreme Court, Fejzullah Hasani, that the judiciary is politically influenced requires urgent action from the key institutional leaders.

According to Hajdari, in a justice system with many negative phenomena, it would be needed to identify the causers of this situation and set measures for overcoming it.
