Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a report on Kosovo that after the constitution of the government and Parliament should be established a special court for war crimes in Kosovo. “I call on political leaders from Kosovo to double the efforts and strengthen the broad public understanding and consensus on this issue, considering its importance for the future of Kosovo,” reads the report.
The EU Special Investigation Team, led by the EULEX chief prosecutor Clint Williamson, conducted an investigation into the war crimes committed in Kosovo by the Kosovo Albanians during and after 1999, as well as allegations by the Rapporteur of Council of Europe, Dick Marty on trafficking in organs of captured Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo.
Ban’s regular quarterly report on Kosovo stated that efforts in the rule of law and the promotion of genuine long-term reconciliation between Kosovo’s communities should be continued.
Ki-moon said that he expect as soon as possible complete and honest engage of Belgrade and Pristina in the EU facilitated dialogue. “The key question in this regard remains to be establishment of the Community/Association of the Serbian municipalities,” said Ban Ki-moon.
Ban said that the reports on the massive migration of people from Kosovo in recent months gave a reason for concern. In this light, he welcomes the efforts of Kosovo authorities to tackle the issue of migration.
The UN Secretary-General welcomed the swift action commenced in order to investigate allegations of corruption in the EU, as they would not be used to undermine the important role that the EU mission plays in Kosovo and that all parties continue to cooperate with her.
