Kosovo and Serbia resume new round of talks

The meeting between Kosovo and Serbia delegations in Brussels started at 22:00hrs on Monday. The meeting was held after the separate talks that the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini had with the two delegations.

The Serbian foreign minister Ivica Dacic told reporters that Serbia insists on talking about the position of Serbs in the Kosovo Government, namely the Jablanovic case, as well as the property that Serbia considers its own in Kosovo.

Talking about the refusal of Kosovo side to talk about Trepça mining complex, Dacic said that Kosovo side is not the one that decides about this issue. According to KTV, it is not clear when the meeting will end, and if it will produce any results.

Kosovo opposition parties said that they are against the process of talks. According to them, opening of Ahtisaari Package is being legitimized with the process of talks.

Most TV broadcasters reported that Prime Minister Isa Mustafa will report to Kosovo Assembly on Thursday about these talks held in Brussels.

During Monday, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa also met with the European neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations commissioner Johannes Hahn to discuss about illegal migration of Kosovars. Commissioner Hahn said that visa liberalization does not solve the migration issue. According to him, this issue is solved by creating conditions for people to stay in Kosovo. It is responsibility of politicians to create the conditions and jobs in Kosovo in order for people to want to stay in Kosovo, Hahn underlined.

‘Peace Park’ and Civil Protection bring together Albanian municipal councilors

A request that they have regarding the ‘Peace Park’ and Civil Protection has brought together the Albanian municipal councilors of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north municipality. PDK, LDK and AAK representatives are demanding that these two issues are included in the agenda of talks between Kosovo and Serbia in Brussels.

Albanians of the Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north consider the existence of ‘Peace Park’ and functioning of Civil Protection unacceptable. Bosniak community municipal councilors also joined their request.

Nonetheless, Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north citizens do not believe that the ‘Park’ placed over the main bridge of Ibër River will ever be removed. 

Gjakovë/Djakovica to file criminal report against Jablanovic

Gjakovë/Djakovica municipal assembly by unanimous vote supported the petition of 14,000 citizens of Gjakovë/Djakovica municipality, organized by the civil society, to file criminal report against former minister Aleksandar Jablanovic.

Months earlier, the Serb minister Jablanovic gave insulting statements against Gjakovë/Djakovica mothers and that is the reason why he was dismissed from his post. 

Krushë e Madhe villagers to file charges against Serbia

A month and a half before the sixteenth anniversary of Krushë e Madhe Massacre, residents of this village will file two charges against Serbian state for massacres it committed in this village on 26 March 1999.

The news was confirmed to Kosovapress by leader of this village Kadri Dellova, who said that they will file both legal and civil charges.

Zarko Veselinovic acquitted

Special Court in Belgrade acquitted the controversial businessman from Kosovo north, Zarko Veselinovic, for illegally obtaining 32 trucks of Hypo Alpe Adria Leasing, Serbian media reported on Monday.

His collaborator Milos Radojcic was also acquitted, while the owner of “Eurokop Company” was sentenced to two-year imprisonment.

Eleven thousand veterans to end up jobless

Fifty percent of veterans in Kosovo might end up jobless, as the verification process has come up with 23,000 real combatants, 11,000 of which are jobless.

The KLA veterans’ verification process will end this Wednesday, while the list of veterans from Llap and Karadak areas will also be published. All the veterans’ lists will be published by 20 February.

There are around 23,000 combatants to whom the veteran’s status has been recognized. The verification brought up that Kosovo has 4,339 war invalids, 2,142 martyrs, 8,139 KLA members and over 13,000 war participants. 4,486 applications have been refused so far, but the process is not final, as 2,850 applications are undergoing revision.
