Agreement on judiciary achieved in Kosovo-Serbia talks

The agreement on judiciary was achieved in the first meeting between the Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic in Brussels.

The agreement was signed around 02:00hrs on Tuesday by the two Prime Ministers and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini.

Mustafa said that the agreement ensures functioning of a unique justice system throughout Kosovo, while Vucic said that Serbia and Kosovo northern Serbs benefit from this agreement.

After the agreement signing Mogherini briefly wrote on her Twitter account: “Just signed agreement on justice: great result of resumption of dialogue Belgrade-Prishtinë/Pristina! Thanks to both sides.”

The agreement was welcomed by the US Ambassador to Kosovo, Tracey Ann Jacobson. She congratulated Kosovo and Serbia for achieving the accord on integration of justice, adding that she looks forward to full implementation of agreements.

On the other hand, Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti considers the agreement harmful and secret.

“Brussels dialogue is not a dialogue on normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, but it is rather a process to blackmail Kosovo’s statehood” Kurti said.

The topic of illegal migrations from Kosovo was among the things that Kosovo and Serbian Prime Ministers, Isa Mustafa and Aleksandar Vucic, agreed about in Brussels.

According to the official statement issued by the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, PM Mustafa and PM Vucic agreed to work together to tackle current regional concerns, among them the acute problem of illegal migration from Kosovo.

“I expressed my support to the two Prime Ministers for further progress in the respective EU paths,” the statement reads.

On the other hand, the intensity of illegal migrations in Kosovo has significantly decreased.

During his visit to Brussels, the Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa, on invitation of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, visited NATO headquarters on Tuesday.

During the meeting with Secretary Stoltenberg, Mustafa expressed the gratitude of Kosovo citizens and Government for the support provided by KFOR not only in the field of security, but also in all fields of life in Kosovo.

Mustafa also sought further support of NATO, including transformation of Kosovo Armed Forces (KAF), as well as further advancement of Kosovo’s partnership with NATO.

Stoltenberg also pledged further NATO support for Kosovo.

Gracanica/Graçanicë not impacted by recent wave of migration

(Klan Kosova)

Serbs of Gracanica/Graçanicë municipality have not joined the wave of migrations from Kosovo. They say that their migration depends on the relations that they have with Albanians.

Miljana Filipovic, a local Serb, is very pleased with her life in Gracanica/Graçanicë. That is why she does not think of migrating from this Serb-majority municipality. However, she justifies the migration of thousands of Albanians from Kosovo.

“The people that are leaving are probably looking for a better life for them and their families,” Filipovic believes.

A local Roma community member does not consider migration as a solution: “Kosovo is free. There is work to do here, too”.

Gracanica/Graçanicë mayor Vladeta Kostic says that inhabitants of his municipality have not been involved in the recent wave of migration. According to him, there is only one reason that might force Serbs out of Kosovo, and that is the relation of Albanians toward them.

Nonetheless, deputy mayor for communities Sebastian Serifovic said that three Roma families left the municipality in 2015, while six other families also left it at the end of last year.

MIA official suspended after making public denouncements

He was also suspended at the time when the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) was led by Bajram Rexhepi, while he continues to face trouble even now when Skënder Hyseni is leading this ministry.

Thus, the manager for production of passports in this ministry Besnik Berisha has been suspended for an indefinite period of time because of his public denouncements made on KTV’s Interaktiv show on 4th of February for new abuses related to production of biometric passports.

Now, Berisha also proves his claims with documents. According to him, unnecessary expenses made in this ministry have caused about three million Euros damage to Kosovo budget.
