The columnist Enver Robelli, on today’s editorial writes that Kosovo can hope for a better future, only if it strengthens the justice system. According to the author, the newly nominated Chief Prosecutor, Aleksander Lumezi, must first visit Romania and see the actual work of the authorities there, because, according to him, this European Union country has finally launched an extensive campaign against corrupt politicians. Robelli also mentions that Lumezi’s predecessors in the post of Chief Prosecutor of Kosovo were not good examples on combating corruption, crime and other offenses. “In Kosovo, every corrupt individual should be jailed, because that is what makes people believe that a functional state is possible.” Robelli notes that Kosovo is still not on track. “The way that politicians are putting control over the economy, have infiltrated party militants in public companies and have occupied state resources – is a major crime.” According to him, the fight against this system with mafia elements is the duty of all Kosovo prosecutors. “Every day we witness media reports on various corruption scandals. Will the new chief prosecutor close his eyes for such scandals? Let’s not presume now, but the pressure of the public should be added in order for Lumezi to justify his post.”
