Kosovo Government approved its governance program

(All monitored broadcasters, TV21)

Kosovo Government approved its four-year program. This program will also be approved at the Assembly within six months.

Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said the program has a comprehensive strategy for the economic development. According to Mustafa, this program will return Kosovo citizens’ perspective by opening many new jobs.

PM Mustafa also announced a big donor conference for Kosovo on 6 March this year. He announced that the donors will be presented this governance program, and its implementation plan.

However, this governance program did not get the approval of Srpska List representatives, as they are continuing to boycott Kosovo institutions since minister Jablanovic was dismissed.

Prime Minister Mustafa said that he does not have any information, nor have they spoken for their return to institutions. However, Mustafa said that they are interested to see Serbs at the Assembly and Government.

PM Mustafa does not consider the statement of Minister of Diaspora, Valon Murati, as an official statement of the Government he leads, RTK2 reported.

Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa told media on Wednesday that LDK will stick to coalition agreement so that Hashim Thaçi will become Kosovo’s President in 2016.

(RTK1, Klan Kosova)

At the evening hours of Wednesday, Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga received Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli, Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, and Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi to a meeting. They discussed about the work dynamics for setting up the Special Tribunal, and the legislation that is being discussed with the EU.

The US Ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson and the EU Special Representative Samuel Zbogar were also present in this meeting. This was confirmed to Klan Kosova by the President’s Spokesperson Arbër Vllahiu.

Asked if this is pressure by the internationals to set the Tribunal up at the earliest time possible, Vllahiu said that this is rather coordination with the strategic partners.

Braathu: Kosovo lacks state organization and efficient leadership

(KTV)

Norwegian Ambassador in Prishtinë/Pristina, Jan Braathu, said that Kosovo has great potential for development.

“What Kosovo misses is state organization and efficient leadership, which would develop country’s economy,” Braathu said in an interview with the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

Regarding the illegal migration of Kosovo citizens toward the EU, Ambassador Braathu said that there are many factors that explain what is going on, and that unemployment is not the only reason.

Among other things, Ambassador Braathu said that Kosovars are fed up with corruption and nepotism, and that currently in Kosovo there is a feeling that everything is decided bases on who you know, or the party you belong to. He considers that this is one of the reasons why citizens are leaving Kosovo.

AI: Interethnic tensions continue in Kosovo

(RTK2)

Inter-ethnic violence issues, threats and attacks on journalists, issues of IDPs return and reintegration, as well as minority discrimination still exist in Kosovo. This is the conclusion of Amnesty International (AI) in this year’s report on the state of the world’s human rights.

Inter-ethnic tensions continue in Kosovo, particularly in the north. Some Serbian politicians were prevented from entering Kosovo, and Kosovo Serbs, including returnees to Klinë/Klina, were subject to attacks on their property, graveyards and religious buildings, the AI report underlines.

USAID and NDI organized roundtable on Assembly’s transparency

(RTK1)

The issue of transparency for civil society at the Assembly of Kosovo was the topic of discussion in a roundtable organized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI). It was called on the Assembly to increase the transparency for citizens and the organizations that monitor this institution.

Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli said that once in four years is not enough to ask citizens how they want to be governed. According to him, they should constantly be active part of law-making and development of public policies.

Civil society representatives praised Kosovo Assembly’s transparency, stressing that there is room for further improvement in this regard.

At this roundtable was also said that civil society is being recognized for its important role in advancement of the parliamentarian transparency.

KDI: Only 20 per cent of women included in labour market

(RTK1, TV21)

Inadequate inclusion of women in labour market appears to be a serious obstacle in Kosovo’s economic development, a conference organized on Wednesday in Prishtinë/Pristina concluded.  Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) considers women inclusion in labour market as extremely low and alarming.

According to a research carried out by this Institute, only 20 per cent of women are included in labour market, different from men, who are included by 60 per cent.
