Like in case of Serbian police officers who were integrated last year in the Kosovo Police, Kosovo judicial system will integrate Serbian judges, prosecutors and judicial administrative staff in Kosovo and Metohija until the 1 September. Their employment in the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia will end on 25 March.
Serbian judges who live in Kosovo and Metohija or have formal residence there were told by Belgrade that if they want to continue to work in Kosovo judiciary they should apply for the posts following a vacancy announcement that will be published by the Ministry of Justice of Kosovo.
Judges and prosecutors who pass the criteria will work in integrated courts and prosecution offices in North Mitrovica and South Mitrovica, as provided by the agreement on judiciary signed in February in Brussels by the prime ministers of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vucic and Isa Mustafa, respectively. Entire procedure has to be accomplished until 1 September.
There are, at least on paper, around 100 judges and 200 court administrative staff of Serbian nationality in Kosovo whereas organizational structure of future integrated judiciary in Mitrovica will accommodate 50 Serbian judges and prosecutors, but Serbian prime minister already in Brussels voiced his fear on whether Kosovo Serbs will have sufficient number of judges and prosecutors to fill out all posts provided by the agreement on judiciary.
