Belgrade is against unilateral moves of the Kosovo government, not against a plan that envisages millions of investments, says Mayor of Štrpce/Shtërpcë, Bratislav Nikolic, following the signing of the agreement between Kosovo government and French-Andorran business consortium for a concession deal over the Ski Center Brezovica for a period of 99 years.

“One of three main worries of Štrpce residents was related to expropriation of land owned by Serbs,” said Nikolic to Vesti and added that he conditioned the agreement requesting that expropriation is exempted from the entire process. “I got firm guarantees that it will be so, and it was stopped. If something else is tried, I will use my position and the veto power to stop the entire process,” said Nikolic.

He explained that Municipal statute stipulates that owners of the objects in a touristic zone can’t become residents, and added that it is about a manner in which the local self-government has set the mechanism of prevention when it comes to eventual change of the ethnic structure.

Nikolic said that one of his conditions set at the inter-ministerial meeting was and social program aiming at paying indemnities to current employees in Inex Ski Center.

He also reflected on the situation of internally displaced persons who are currently sheltered in Lahor Hotel in Brezovica and said that this problems will be settled through an initiative, launched by former minister for communities and return, for developing a project that envisages construction of blocks of apartments for them and internally displaced in other objects in Brezovica.
