Mustafa: I had no information about Kumanovo

(Most monitored broadcasters, KTV)

Coincidentally for justice in Kosovo almost all the participants in Kumanovo armed clashes were being investigated by the Special Prosecution of Kosovo prior to developments in Macedonia.

Security institutions failed to have control over the persons that were being investigated, which as it turns out, left the country at least once.

State Prosecution was not able to also explain even why the order for searching their families was given now, or the criminal offences they are suspected off. No details were given as when the Court issued the order for start of investigations.

In the meantime, Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa denies that he had information for developments in Macedonia, or that he is responsible for ignoring a report of Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) which warned that there might be Kosovars who are can potentially be involved in turmoil in Macedonia.

In a response for KTV, the responsibility was addressed to KIA and Police, saying that they should have communicated in case that Agency possessed any information, although it is not authorized to do so.

Chairperson of the Assembly committee for KIA oversight, Haxhi Shala, says that this institution has done its part of the job, but the failure happened with the Prime Minister and the President.

Member of the Assembly committee on security, Rexhep Selimi, is not considering this as negligence, but rather sabotage against country’s security by the Prime Minister and the President.

In the meantime, on his visit to Tirana, Kosovo interior minister Skender Hyseni said that Macedonia developments are not related to terrorism or extremism of any kind. According to him, whoever draws a parallel about this is mistaken.

Albanians in the north do not vote for the budget due to discrimination

(KTV)

Although Albanians comprise more than 35 per cent of the population in the four municipalities in the north, finding a job by them is impossible.

Albanians living in the north do not have any chance to get employed, not only in municipal administration, but neither in hospitals, health centres, education or social centres, KTV reported.

Because of this, Albanian municipal councillors of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north did not vote for the municipal budget, saying it was discriminatory.

KTV tried to contact with municipal bodies of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north, but it was impossible to do so. As usually, Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north Mayor Goran Rakic does not speak for Albanian media.

Vetëvendosje had opposed through protest the agreement on police, by which it was stipulated that Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north region police commander necessarily had to come from Serb ethnicity.

In this situation, when it is impossible for Albanians of the north to get employed in institutions, Vetëvendosje considers that this is an outcome of Kosovo compromises.

Irrespective of the fact that Albanian municipal councillors in the north did not vote for the new budget, it was passed as the municipal government had the necessary votes.

It is not only Albanians, but other communities in the north also feel discriminated by the inability to work in institutions, or municipal enterprises.

Kosovo and Serbia mark progress in talks about telecommunications

(Most monitored broadcasters, RTK1)

Prishtinë/Pristina and Belgrade have marked progress and have brought their stances closer on issues related to telecommunication.

Following the meeting of working groups, Kosovo chief negotiator Edita Tahiri said that parties have agreed with elements of the implementation plan.

According to her, Kosovo will get the telephone code, while Austria will file the request on Kosovo’s behalf. There is also a consensus that operators from Kosovo and Serbia will cooperate in the field of roaming with the aim to decrease tariffs.

Meanwhile, according to Tahiri, a new telephone company in Kosovo will be provisionally allowed and it will have limited scope of work. She insists that a new telephone operator is not in question, as a new operator in Kosovo is only selected through tender.

Braathu: RTK2 work beyond my expectations

(RTK2)

The Norwegian Ambassador in Prishtinë/Pristina Jan Braathu said that work of RTK2 is beyond his expectations and that the TV channel in Serbian is extremely important for informing Serbs, and other communities in Kosovo.

Ambassador Braathu expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Serbs compose majority of employees in this collective, which, according to him, can contribute to return of IDPs to towns.

“Yes, your work is beyond my expectations, maybe it is unfair to say this, but I really did not know what to expect when RTK2 was established,” Braathu told RTK2.
