Mystery of continuous thefts in property of Serbs in Klinë/Klina and Istog/Istok villages has been unveiled. Kosovo Police arrested seven persons for these actions. A Serb community member is also among the arrested. They are suspected of thefts, burglaries and damage of property.

Kosovo Police Commander for Dukagjini area Shaban Shala said that situation in this area has been followed with several incidents, in the municipalities of Klinë/Klina and Istog/Istok in particular.

“Several locations have been searched and we currently have seven persons under arrest in relation to recent and earlier theft and robbery cases,” Shala stated.

Shala said that the arrested persons are also suspected of other criminal offences.

On the other hand, while meeting Gjakovë/Djakovica Mayor Mimoza Kusari-Lila in Prishtinë/Pristina on Wednesday, Kosovo minister of communities and return Dalibor Jevtic welcomed these arrests, Klan Kosova reported.

Serbs want to have more police officers from their ethnicity in these two municipalities.

“Under what is called as positive discrimination it is important that we have even more Serb community members in Police. We hope that we will soon sent police officers from our community in certain areas, as there are none in Klinë/Klina and Istog/Istok. This will serve to everyone’s safety,” minister Jevtic stated after the meeting with Gjakovë/Djakovica mayor.

The Municipality of Gjakovë/Djakovica does not likely intend to give up from charges raised against former minister of return Aleksandar Jablanovic for his statements that were considered to be insulting. Nonetheless, Gjakovë/Djakovica Mayor Mimoza Kusari-Lila invited him to look at this municipality as a normal place.

At the beginning of the year it would be almost impossible for Gjakovë/Djakovica mayor Mimoza Kusari-Lila to be seen at the premises of ministry for communities and return. But, as the former minister Aleksandar Jablanovic was dismissed from his post, Kusari-Lila had no problem to come and meet the current minister Dalibor Jevtic.

Speaking at the press conference after the meeting, Kusari-Lila said that Jablanovic should not be afraid to visit Gjakovë/Djakovica.

On the other hand, minister Jevtic considers that process against his predecessor was political.

Both politicians said that they agreed to do more for the minority return process, particularly for the return of Serbs in Gjakovë/Djakovica, a process that is showing to be pretty difficult.

Kusari-Lila said that persons responsible for the grave situations must be identified. Moreover, she said that only recently indictments have been filed against 16 partakers in the last conflict, namely in relation to Mejë Massacre.

Nonetheless, Jevtic and Kusari-Lila said that the return of people to their property should be made possible throughout Kosovo. They stressed that this process should not be politicized by anyone.

(RTK2, RTK1)

The Radio and Television of Kosovo (RTK) 2014 work report triggered a debate at the Assembly committee on media. RTK Board Chairperson Ismet Bexheti said that irrespective to numerous difficulties, RTK has done a good job during 2014.

However, some of the Assembly committee members criticized RTK work report.

RTK General Director Mentor Shala responded to all criticism of Assembly committee members.

“The fact that we have switched from 24 to 96-hour programme says it all. There is nothing that we can talk about this. I do not believe that there is no other element that we can discuss about this issue,” Shala said.

Following the debate with RTK managers, Assembly members took a break to return later and vote for the report; but this did not happen because Assembly MPs Sadri Ferati, Kujtim Paçaku and Zafir Berisha left the meeting.

Due to lack of quorum, Assembly chairperson Zenun Pajaziti decided that the meeting for voting the RTK work report will be held in the coming days.
