“Albanian issue is not settled,” yesterday said the Mayor of Dečani/Deçan Rasim Selmanaj at a funeral of Beg Rizaj, who was killed in Kumanovo by Macedonian Police. On the other side, despite the latest security tensions in the region and actualization of the so called Albanian national agenda, there is a complete lack of any reaction of the Kosovo government over the way the funeral of Kumanovo victims was carried out, along with the silence of the Serbian Government and international missions.

Albanian political analyst and media advisor in Gračanica/Graçanica Municipality Fatmir Sheholli said to KoSSev that the truth is still not known on what really happened in Kumanovo, and added that it is the fact that a number of Kosovo residents participated in the armed conflict in Macedonia and that they used to be members of the Kosovo Liberation Army. With regard to the funeral of former KLA fighter Beg Riza, Sheholli said that “Albanian nation was in mourning yesterday” and that “Albanian nation sees his death as the one for the benefit of the society”.

On the other side, professor at the University of North Mitrovica and founder of the Serbian National Forum (SNF) Aleksandar Đikić is not surprised with event in Dečani. “What happened in Dečani is only a signal and announcement of a more militant stance of Albanian side toward political and social developments in Balkans,” said Đikić.

The head of the Serbian Government’s Media Office Milivoje Mihajlović, in his personal commentary over the display of the KLA uniforms at the funeral of Beg Rizaj, said that it presents the glorification of Albanians killed in clashes with Macedonian Police in Kumanovo and sees it first of all as a weakness of international missions in Kosovo, since it is the international protectorate.

When asked to comment the statement of the Mayor of Dečane/Deqan Rasima Selmanaj on “the fall of one of the most determined soldiers of the unit Black Eabels, Beg Rizaj, shows that Albanian issue is not yet settled”, Mihajlović said that such statements are only inflaming aspirations for Greater Albania and can’t bring anything good to Balkans.
