The former European Union Special Envoy for Kosovo and former EU chief negotiator in peace talks on Kosovo, Wolfgang Petritsch said on Tuesday that Kosovo should establish the special court as soon as possible, in order to move forward. According to him, it is in the national interest of Kosovo to deal with the past, in order to have a better future. Petritch considers that despite the objections of the opposition for the establishment of special court, the Kosovo Parliament should act in the interest of Kosovo people and should vote in favor of the establishment of this court. In regards to the Pristina – Belgrade dialogue, Petritsch said that the dialogue is the key to the progress of Kosovo and Serbia towards the EU.
Petritsch further added that the EU does not accept new members until they resolve their neighborly problems. According to him, the EU always refers to the unresolved issue of Cyprus, and this won’t be repeated, and therefore it is a strict approach of Brussels to prevent recurrence of such a situation.
