The Orthodox Church on the campus of the University of Pristina (UP) will not be listed for demolition, even though no one has applied for its registration.  Although municipal officials earlier had declared that the church “Christ the Saviour”, built in the 90s, will be treated as all other facilities without permission, on the grounds that it is politically sensitive case, now appears it takes time for making a decision.

Mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, told the paper that the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning (MESP) is dealing with this issue. “This was discussed and MESP and the government are dealing with this issue. They seem to have a permit issued in the 90s. We are left to review the documentation and then evaluate together with the government what to do. It is a politically sensitive issue that needs time and discussions,” Ahmeti said.
