Repercussions if special court not established (Koha Ditore)
On the front page the paper quoted an unnamed German government official as saying that the failure of the Kosovo Assembly to establish the special court would be followed by the freezing of Kosovo’s European integration process, namely the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) and the visa liberalization process. The paper further writes that the Kosovo leadership has been informed about repercussions in case the special court is not established.
Mustafa: Failure to establish special court, setback for Kosovo (Koha Ditore)
Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said in an interview for RTV 21 that it is the duty of the Assembly to establish the special court which would clean the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) war. He said the failure to establish the court would set Kosovo 16 years back as it would then be created by the UN. Mustafa also clarified that the term “genocide” has already been dropped from the text of the draft law that paves way for the establishment of the court.
KLA veterans to call on MPs not to vote for special court (Epoka e Re)
In an interview for the paper, head of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) association Xhavit Jashari said they will protest on 17 June against, as he said, injustices against the former members of the KLA. At the same time, the KLA veterans will call on MPs to vote against the establishment of the special court which, according to them, undermines Kosovo’s sovereignty.
Rakic: In Brussels only as part of the Belgrade delegation (Zeri)
Mitrovica North Mayor Goran Rakic said he would participate in the upcoming meeting in Brussels with the Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri only if he is part of the Belgrade delegation. “I do not want to be part of Edita Tahiri’s delegation,” said Rakic. He said he was not informed of the details of the meeting but that he would be constructive in the dialogue.
