The chairperson of Russian Duma’s committee for foreign relations Aleksey Pushkov said that the West, with resolution on Srebrenica, is sending a signal that it can launch mechanisms that could attack the image and authority of Serbia, because of not joining sanctions against Russia.

Pushkov also said that it is about the effort that Serbia is put at odds with Muslim nations, and stressed that this document is not necessary since its adoption would cause more damage than benefits, reported Tanjug.

At a lecture held at University ‘Karic’, Pushkov said that if ‘we accept that genocide took place in Srebrenica, than it means that the West acted rightly in 1999, what should legitimize current policy – separation of Kosovo would be justified, and Kosovo could become member of the European Union and United Nations’.

Moreover, Pushkov said that West plays double standard politics and entitles itself to decide what is crime and what is not. He also said that Serbia is leading correct policy with trying to access the EU and maintain relations with Russia. “That two-sided politics is good for your state,” said Pushkov.
