A conference of Western Balkan chambers of commerce, organized at the initiative of chambers of commerce of Serbia and Kosovo, ended in Vienna on Tuesday with the conclusion that business communities need to be involved in making decisions about the projects that are being prepared for the summit on the Western Balkans, set to take place in the Austrian capital in late August.

President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Marko Cadez told Tanjug that the participants of the conference in Vienna agreed to suggest to governments in the region to include the representatives of chambers of commerce into national investment commissions, bodies tasked with the planning and realization of large-scale infrastructure projects at a national level.

The projects in question can be the construction of a highway or of gas interconnections as part of the Berlin Process, he explained, adding that it is the best way to ensure engagement of the local business community.

The chambers also agreed to establish a kind of an investment forum, a joint body that will bring together working groups in various fields, and address topics such as cooperation in third markets, the PKS president said.
