Reconstruction of houses owned my Albanians in the Mitrovica’s northern neighbourhood of Kroi i Vitakut commenced this morning only to stop hours later. The neighbourhood representative Nazmi Ismajli said the residents agreed to temporarily suspend works until Tuesday when talks underway in Brussels end.
Earlier in the day, Ismajli said the residents gathered on their own and decided to resume construction work on their houses. However, Kosovo Police asked the workers to halt the construction justifying it with the request of the Mitrovica North municipality inspectorate. The head of the Kosovo Government Administrative Office in northern Mitrovica, Adriana Hodzic, also went to the site in an effort to convince the residents to temporarily hold off work until the mayor of Mitrovica North, Goran Rakic, and Mitrovica Mayor, Agim Bahtiri, return from Brussels where they are discussing issues of mutual concern.
