Mini Olympic games for Kosovo Children with Disabilities held

(RTK1, Saturday – 27 June, 2015)

At the launch of Mini Olympic games for Kosovo Children with Disabilities, the President of Kosovo Paralympics Committee and the Kosovo Assembly MP, Njomëza Emini, said that inclusion of these persons in Kosovar society is made possible through this Olympiad.

Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Ambassador and the Italian Ambassador to Kosovo were present in this ceremony. They said that no part of the society should be neglected.

“This event is not just about games and fun, but it is about social inclusion and integration of each and every one of us. This event is not held to showing sympathy or to draw attention for people with special needs, but it is a about their inclusion in society,” the OSCE Ambassador Jean-Claude Schlumberger stated on this occasion.

“No part of society should be neglected and not be socialized. I also have my own personal experiences, because I spent one year in a wheelchair, and only for a year I could imagine what it means to be attached to a wheelchair,” the Italian Ambassador Andreas Ferrarese stated.

Activities of this Olympiad, where around 400 persons with special needs are taking part, will also continue on Sunday, whereas different games will be played at the premises of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KADS) in Vushtrri/Vucitrn.

Opposition parties condition discussions for Special Court

(RTK1&KTV)

Discussions between the Government of Kosovo and opposition parties for establishment of a Court that would probe alleged war crimes can resume only if this Court will be located within Kosovo, the opposition stated on Sunday.

The AAK chairperson Ramush Haradinaj told Government that they can talk to them only under these terms. He reemphasized that re-proceeding of amendments is not possible and, according to Haradinaj, Mustafa is very much aware of this.

The meeting between opposition representatives held on Sunday morning was also confirmed by Vetëvendosje Movement.

Former leader of this Movement, Albin Kurti, underlined that Kosovo shall not spoil its relations with the United States after refusal to establish the Special Court. He mentioned the case of Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, who refused to host dismantlement of chemical weapons in Albania.

Among other things, Kurti said institutional leaders are the only ones who will potentially suffer consequences from the international bureaucrats for this decision of the Kosovo Assembly.

RTK1 reported that graffiti calling for expulsion of foreign ambassadors from Kosovo were inscribed in walls of public institutions in Prishtinë/Pristina and no one has taken authorship for these graffiti. Kosovo Police has launched investigation into this case.

This reaction follows few days after the Dutch Ambassador Robert Bosch called for resignation of the Legislation Committee chairperson Albulena Haxhiu, who refused to read the request for constitutional changes at the Assembly of Kosovo.

Nevertheless, Vetëvendosje Movement, the political entity that Haxhiu comes from, denied inscription of such graffiti.

Kosovo delegation told not to discuss internal issues with Serbia

(KTV)

A day before the meetings between Kosovo and Serbia Prime Ministers, the Serbian officials have stated that non-voting of Special Court at the Assembly of Kosovo, demonstrates the lack of willingness to judge Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) alleged crimes.

It was the Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, the one that expressed his dissatisfaction with non-establishment of the Special Court. Speaking about Monday’s meeting in Brussels, Vucic said that Serbia is ready to compromise, saying “it does not depend on us what will happen.”

However, according to political analyst Mazllum Baraliu, the issue of Special Court and other internal issues should not be discussed with Serbia. He considers statements of foreign ambassadors for non-establishment of the Special Court as unnecessary threats.

On the other hand, Kosovo foreign minister Hashim Thaçi expressed his confidence that the Assembly of Kosovo will adopt constitutional changes in the next voting process.

While speaking about the next meeting with the Serbian side in Brussels dialogue, Thaçi said they expect approximation of stances and signing of agreements in line with Kosovo Constitution and laws.

Over 1.500 Serb pilgrims marked the Serbian Orthodox Church feast “St. Vitus Day” in Gazimestan.

They arrived in organized manner from Serbia and Kosovo and celebrated the feast with popular and nationalistic songs for Kosovo.

On this occasion, the metropolitan bishop of Montenegro said that Tzar Lazar and Scanderbeg fought for the same ideal. The Patriarch Irinej said that Kosovo land is a holy Serbian land.

The ceremony was held under strict security measures, while police said that it was prepared for wellbeing of this activity on time.

Many Serbs carrying flags and T-shirts with nationalistic and fascistic contents, as well as the picture of former Serbian dictator Slobodan Milosevic, were noted during this politicized religious manifestation.

Organizers on the other hand tried to stop them from singing the songs calling: “Kosovo is the heart of Serbia.”
