Numerous complains addressed to the Kosovo Ombudsman are prove that rule of law in Kosovo is at the low level, said participants in a debate that took place in Media Center in Čaglavica.
Kosovo Ombudsman report reads that his office has received 2.224 complaints or requests for legal aid, what is assessed by some participants as the prove for the poor rule of law in Kosovo.
Representative of the Civic Initiative SDP said that Serbs are used that Kosovo and international institutions are violating their rights, and quoted example of Oliver Ivanović, who is being detained for 19 months now.
Professor at the University in North Mitrovica Strahinja Miljković said the Ombudsman’s report has no specific value since, according to him, when it comes to human rights there are double criterions for Serbs and Albanians. He reminded the numerous crimes against Serbs since the arrival of international forces, and stressed that not a single one was resolved so far.
Establishment of the special court is the best prove that there was not rule of law in last 15 years, claims analyst from Pristina Shkelzen Gashi, who argues that war crimes are the biggest problem of the Kosovo society.
Participants at the debate agreed that Kosovo still lacks capacities to set rule of law.
