Preteni: Judiciary lacks courage to fight corruption

(Most monitored broadcasters, RTK1, KTV) 

The head of the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) Hasan Preteni, considers that the Government, judiciary, municipalities and public enterprises continue to be the most corrupted sections in Kosovo.

While, according to him, the biggest corruption exists at the ministry of infrastructure, health, education and KEK, as these institutions deal with big tenders.

Moreover, Preteni said that there is much talk about corruption, little investigations and no trial at all. He considers that the prosecutors and judges lack professional courage and power to treat corruption cases.

According to him, the lack of the Anti-Mafia Law for verification and confiscation of the assets, presents an additional obstacle in fighting the corruption. 

Stojanovic: Ivanovic should be released pending trial

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic said that Oliver Ivanovic’s case is disturbing the Serbs, adding that he should be released pending trial.

‘So far, as political representatives we have not intervened, but now has become clear that this is not a regular case. Ivanovic should be released pending trial’, Stojanovic told to Serbian RTS.

Stojanovic said that Ivanovic’s decision to enter hunger strike, is a personal decision, but also a message that procedures against him are initiated.

Moreover, he said that Serb politicians have not reacted so far but now, according to him, potential irregularities in this case should be reviewed. 

Haziri: No need to have new elections

LDK deputy chairperson, Lutfi Haziri, said that there are no reasons for Kosovo to have new elections, because according to him, the coalition between the LDK and PDK is functional and offers stable governance.

Haziri said that the requests of the opposition parties should be understood, but he emphasized that there are no chances for Kosovo to head towards new elections.

Haziri’s statements came as are a reaction to the recent calls of the AAK chairperson, Ramush Haradinaj, for new elections.
