Rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, Agustin Conde, said that his report will not deal with political and status issues, but only human rights and care for the people.

During the talks with the Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Dusan Kozarev and representatives of Serbs from Kosovo Branimir Stojanovic, Ljubomir Maric and Dalibor Javtić, Conde stressed that minimum standards in respect of human rights must be reached in Kosovo.

Kozarev gave to Conde document about the position of the Serbs and other non – Albanians, which was prepared by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, stressing that Serbs in Kosovo are in difficult situation since 1999.  “They are denied basic human rights, and sustainable return for internally displaced persons is not possible, in spite of their desire,” he said.

Kozarev said he expects the full implementation of the Brussels Agreement and standards that will pave the way for peaceful coexistence and reconciliation between Serbs and Albanians.

The meeting was also attended by Bishop of Raska-Prizren and Kosovo-Metohija Teodosije, who drew attention to the danger of Pristina’s efforts to get UNESCO membership.
