A delegation of the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons from Kosovo will meet on 7 September with the representatives of the Serbian Prosecution Office for War Crimes and discuss many difficult and painful issues, told president of the Association, Simo Spasic. “We have been waiting for this meeting for a long time … We want to hear what the Prosecution has done so far and what to expect from the Special Court for crimes of the KLA,” said Spasic.
According to him, the Prosecution office must answer what was done to prosecute the Albanian criminals, and which documents were given to EULEX. “We will not allow that only Serbian generals are convicted for command responsibility, while at the same time none of the Slovenian, Croatian, Muslim and Albanian criminals are convicted,” said Spasic. He noted that the families for the first time have the opportunity to meet with the Prosecutor for war crimes Vladimir Vukcevic, while his deputy, Bruno Vekaric, met with them several times.
Spasic said that the families of kidnapped want the truth and to find out where are their loved ones. “We will not give up the Yellow House, or information Carla del Ponte and Dick Marty announced, we will request a justice for our loved ones,” said Spasic.
He also commented on the news that an unnamed Albanian witness claims that in 1999 he found the bodies of Serbs killed in Djakovica and buried them: “We understood his good intentions, that his conscience was reactivated after 16 years. But we reacted strongly because it was needed then to go to Pristina, to EULEX or to get in touch with the War crimes prosecutors in Belgrade, instead of publishing this shocking statement in media, and then (as it happened before) at the scene nothing is found,” said Spasic, adding that it further upset families of the kidnapped and missing persons.
