Border crossing with Serbia point closed for several hours

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

After about eight hours of waiting at the Kosovo-Serbia border, Serbian authorities allowed crossing of Medvedja citizens that headed to Mutivoda crossing point to take part in local elections that were being held in Serbia on Sunday.

Around 2.000 Medvedja citizens since the morning hours were blocked at this border crossing point by the Serbian police with the justification that border control system had failed.

After the pressure that political leaders of this area put on them, at around 16:00hrs the Serbian police started to allow citizens to cross the border.

In the meantime, Kosovo minister for dialogue Edita Tahiri said that Serbia was violating the free movement agreement with the blockage of this border crossing point, RTK1 reported.

Vetëvendosje Movement reacted against this border blockage.

GAP: Parallel structures still present in the north

The change in name from the municipality to provisional administrative bodies is the only change that has happened in the northern part of Kosovo. Parallel structures have remained the same in functions, and they continue to have impact on all spheres of public life in this part.

Institute for Advanced Studies GAP considers that with this Serbia continues to be present in Kosovo.

“Parallel structures continue their presence in the north and they take decisions on the sphere of education, health, urbanism, public services, and even about sports and culture,” stated Bekim Salihu of GAP.

A report issued by this Institute emphasises that parallel structures continue to challenge the state of Kosovo. Different from other municipalities that bring incomes, the northern municipalities only make expenditures.

Among others, the report emphasises that Government should take a decision for transformation of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë North Administrative Office. The four municipalities, Leposavic/Leposaviq, Zubin Potok, Zvecane/Zveçan and Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north continue to keep the stamp and the logo of Serbian state. Neither the 19 April Agreement 2013 between Kosovo and Serbia, which refers to this area, did not bring any change.

Mustafa awards party members with important positions

(KTV)

Kosovo image continues to be followed with political diplomacy and politicized boards. This culture that started since the end of the conflict in Kosovo does not stop, although when he took over the power, Isa Mustafa promised that he would move the hands of politics out of each politicized segment in Kosovo.

Now names of MPs of the parties in power and candidates that failed to become MPs have already been selected to represent Kosovo in different countries of the world, while many other political names are becoming members of public institutions’ boards in the country.

This practice is being criticized by the civil society, saying that everything in Kosovo is being destroyed by politics. Civil society representatives say that parties in power are awarding party militants for the favours they did to them at the time of elections.

Gëzim Kelmendi elected as Fjala Party chairperson

(Klan Kosova, TV21)

A new political entity has joined the Kosovo political spectrum. In its first convention, Fjala Party elected the Kosovo Assembly MP Gëzim Kelmendi as its chairperson for a four-year mandate.

In this convention Fjala party adopted the statute that regulates the issue of electing the new presidency and party programme.
