Several news sites carry a copy of Prime Minister Isa Mustafa’s request to the Assembly Speaker to postpone the debate on the last four agreements with Belgrade in Brussels. Mustafa wrote in his request that several government ministers, who were involved in the process of talks with Belgrade, were not going to be present at the assembly session and that the debate should be postponed to September 22.

LDK MP Armend Zemaj accused law enforcement authorities for failing to stop the activities of illegal moneylenders throughout the country. Zemaj even claimed that “loan sharks” enjoy the support of certain politicians and judicial mechanisms. “The police, courts and the prosecution have yet to act against loansharking. Some people have fled Kosovo precisely because of this. I call on the police and the Ministry of Interior Affairs to launch legal measures against all those who are damaging people and businesses. Businesses in Decan, Peja, Junik and Gjakova, are unable to operate freely as a result of loan sharks,” he said.

Vetevendosje MP Glauk Konjufca said that ever since the Kosovo government signed the agreement for the formation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, “the police chief, Isa Mustafa, has arrested 40 Vetevendosje activists for distributing pamphlets and writing slogans”. “The government has signed the division of Kosovo and now it is hiding behind the police,” Konjufca added.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and member of the Kosovo Assembly, called on Prime Minister Isa Mustafa to withdraw his signature from the agreement on the formation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. “The Association is wrong. Mustafa should withdraw his signature from this agreement. Afterwards we can sit down and discuss the situation in the country. If he doesn’t withdraw his signature there will be no peace in the country or in the Assembly,” he said. Haradinaj also argued that the Association will have decision-making powers, and this according to him is by far worse than having executive competencies.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Sabri Hamiti, was obliged to interrupt today’s Assembly session, due to the protest of the opposition parties at the Assembly. Hamiti initially decided to make a ten minute break, being that a number of the opposition deputies prevented voting of Prime Minister Isa Mustafa’s request to postpone his reporting on the agreements reached with Serbia in Brussels, for the 22 September. They took his microphone and after his decision to make a ten minute break, Deputy Assembly Speaker, Aida Derguti from Vetevendosje movement, occupied his seat. Hamiti then informed the deputies that today’s session was over. “Today’s session is over. Assembly Chairmanship will decide on Monday for the next session of the Assembly,” Hamiti said.
