Request of some representatives of Kosovo Serbs that the chairperson of the Serbian List Aleksandar Jablanović resigns from all posts followed alleged findings that Jablanović had intentions to divide the caucus of the Serbian List in the Kosovo parliament, sources from the Serbian List said to Vecernje Novosti.

Jablanović allegedly tried, couple days ago, to bring into the Serbian List caucus the only Serb MP in the Kosovo parliament who is not the member of the Serbian List caucus, Nenad Rašić who is the leader of the Progressive Democratic Party, with the goal that Rašić and four other MPs from the Movement of the Socialists, (Jablanović’s party within the Serbian List) and Slobodan Petrović from the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) create their own caucus. That caucus would be keen, according to sources, to make ‘deals’ with Isa Mustafa and Hashim Thaci, whereas the first one would be with regard to the creation of Kosovo’s army.

When asked about these allegations, Jablanović replied with the counter question: “Why would I create a caucus with six MPs after we strengthened our caucus from 10 MPs to 11 MPs, following my engagement? I worked for the sake of unity of Serbian representatives in the parliament and managed to unite them in one caucus with having Rašić on board,” said Jablanović, and added that he will continue to work on the unity of Serbs.

The Head of Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić, commented the development by saying that no one’s political carrier should be more important than the interest of the Serbian nation, and added that Serbs in Kosovo should decide on their own who should be the chairpersons of their lists. “We, even though we can’t influence it, wish that political leaders of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, are individuals with clean biographies, individuals who are the role models and individuals who are able to place interest of their compatriots before everything else,” said Đurić.
