Serbia will not have a negotiating position for Chapter 35, which deals in the negotiations with the EU with the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. This chapter does not replace the dialogue on the normalization of relations and therefore there is no need for a negotiating position.

The Chapter 35 will most likely be the first one to open in the negotiations between Serbia and the EU, which, according to all indications and from Brussels and Belgrade, should begin by the end of the year.

The screening, an obligatory part of the preparation for the opening of each of the 35 chapters that deal with relations with Kosovo, was completed in January last year and began a day after the first intergovernmental conference, or formal start of talks between Serbia and the EU.

– European Commission will present the report to the member states in the Council, not to us. It will be available to us only when the Council adopts it. According to what we know, there are no criteria for opening the chapter 35. This chapter does not replace the dialogue on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, but is monitoring all agreed during this dialogue. It is therefore not necessary to have a negotiating position – explained Miscevic.
