Considering that 32 member states of the UNESCO’s Executive Council have recognized Kosovo, and that 20 of them have supported Albania’s proposal in writing, it is almost certain that this topic will be on the daily agenda, and that it will be discussed and decision made before the conclusion of the body’s 197th session, around 20 October, said Serbian Ambassador to UNESCO Darko Tanaskovic.

Tanaskovic went on to say that many in the world are showing understanding for Serbia’s arguments, however, taking into account the system of voting at the UNESCO and a sort of inertia of opportunism in international relations, the question is whether this would be sufficient at this point. “We hope that it will be so, however, the final voting of the member states will take place at the General Assembly, where, instead of the simple majority at the Executive Council), Kosovo would need two-third majority, out of 195 member parties of the UNESCO, explained Tanaskovic.
