Committee for Kosovo and Metohija of the Serbian Parliament requested from SANU (Serbian Academy of Science and Art) to declare about the attitude of the President of the institution, Vladimir Kostic, and in regards to his statement on Kosovo independence. In a joint conclusion of this Committee, which was passed with only one abstention vote, was said that Kostic’s statement is unacceptable, since such disclosure of personal attitudes weaken Serbia’s position in the negotiations, discourages Serbian people to remain in Kosovo, and encourages the Albanian side to believe that Serbia will renounce its spiritual cradle.

Some members of the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija assessed that such a statement of the Committee is too mildly, given the damage that the academic Kostic caused to Serbia with his statement. “The least we can do is to ask for the dismissal of Kostic, because he insulted ten million Serbs,” said a member Dragomir Karic, to which president of the Committee Milovan Drecun responded that Committee doesn’t have such authority.

Certain members requested that the Committee instead of “unacceptable statements” use the word “condemn the statement of academic Kostic.” As stated, even some academics, like Vasilije Krestić, were stunned by what “neurologist Kostic, without consultation with historians stated.”
