In the past ten days in Mitrovica have been reported three attempted abductions of children. The number of police officers in the vicinity of schools in this city will be increased.
Kosovo police arrested yesterday in Mitrovica a person suspected of involvement in these cases, but was soon released because the person was not identified by children and parents.
The regional head of the Kosovo Police Zeljko Bojic says that the police is aware of the suspicion of child abduction but that the prosecutor qualified it as criminal offenses of theft and criminal act of assault.
-In connection with these cases, we have taken measures and actions and one of the measures will be to increase the number of police officers in the vicinity of schools. We are taking other measures also, about which I cannot speak due to the investigation – said Bojic.
The first attempt of kidnapping was registered in the village of Babin Most in early May, when the hijackers tried to force a Serbian girl into the vehicle.
