Several dozen Albanians gathered in the so-called Serbian street in Djakovica/Gjakova to protest over the arrival group of displaced Serbs from the city which were supposed to arrive around noon. Strong Kosovo police forces are deployed along the street leading to the church of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary.

Bus with fifty Orthodox believers from Djakovica should arrive around noon to Djakovica/Gjakova in order to bring the yule log to the Serbian Orthodox Church and visit four nuns in Djakovica/Gjakova.

President of the Association of Dhakovica citizens Djokica Stanojevic told Tanjug that it is uncertain whether they will be able to visit the church, which is located in the Serbian street in Djakovica/Gjakova.

Stanojevic added that the behavior of the Albanians and the police response would show whether Djakovica/Gjakova was still “forbidden city for Serbs” and stressed that the intention of the displaced was to mark the great Christian holiday in their home town with no intention to provoke anybody.

Bus with displaced Serbs from Djakovica/Gjakova has arrived to Decani accompanied by the Kosovo Police, and with the displaced is also the President of the Serbian List Slavko Simic.
