Internally displaced persons and socially vulnerable families who live in a container’s settlement in Gračanica/Graçanicë are disconnected from electricity for a month and a half now. Provisional body of Pristina Municipality (Serbia sponsored institution) has brought a decision on their resettlement to another location in the suburb Padaliste, what is refused by IDPs who claim that living conditions in a new settlement are even poorer than in the current one.

The chairperson of the provisional body Ljubinko Karadzic said that container settlement in question will be closed and that new containers have been provided for IDP in suburb Padaliste. The director of the Office of the Commissariat for Refugees of Serbia, Dragan Velic, stated that electricity was disconnected in the IDP settlement due to outstanding electricity bills of some of tenants who are not fulfilling criteria for having the IDP status, and added that six containers have been provided in the suburb Padaliste for those fulfilling conditions, and that deadline for leaving the current location is ten days.
