Mayors of three Serb-majority municipalities of Kosovo-Morava region, Ranilug/Ranillug, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë and Parteš-Pasjane/Partesh/Pasjanë have signed an agreement on joint action aimed at efficiently tackling the problems of unemployment, changed demographic structure and departure of young people. The Mayor of Ranilug/Ranillug Municipality Gradimir Nikic stated that joint presentation of these municipalities in front of Belgrade and Pristina authorities will not only be related to politics.

“We are faced with changes in the demographic structure, departure of young people for whom we cannot provide jobs. We have to give impetus to economy, because if people continue to leave there will be nothing left to talk about,” said Mikic. He explained that there are around 35.000 Serbs in the Kosovo-Morava region, which represents more than a third of the total number of Serbs living in Kosovo and Metohija, however they are not adequately represented in Belgrade and Pristina.

Mikic said that the signing of a Memorandum on joint action by three municipalities is not directly linked with the creation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities.
