The Serbian List MPs have still not decided whether they will support the election of the incumbent Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci for the new President of Kosovo, says Nenad Rasic.

For the coalition agreement between the ruling parties, DPK and LDK, Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci should replace Atifete Jahjaga as President of Kosovo.

The Serbian List MP in Kosovo parliament and Chairperson of the Progressive-Democratic Party Nenad Rasic says no major issues are expected to arise regarding the election of Thaci as President of Kosovo. However, he added that the Serbian List has not discussed the topic so far. “I would like to stress that on our side, that is, the Serbian List caucus, nothing has been decided yet,” said Rasic and added that no serious discussions have taken place so far but that they will as soon as possible.

Three opposition parties are opposed to the election of Thaci for President of Kosovo and have announced that they will use all means necessary to block the presidential election session. Kosovo opposition leaders have also announced big protests for 17 February, requesting the resignation of the current government following the adoption of the Brussels Agreement which envisages creation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. Rasic believes that such unrest is unlikely to happen because it would not be in the interest of the opposition.

Three major opposition parties have blocked parliamentary activity for three months now, in opposition to the creation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities and demarcation with Montenegro.
