Reacting to the statement by Kosovo Police Spokesman Beki Kelani, who said that armed persons arrested in front of the Visoki Decani monastery were not linked to terrorism and that their vehicle was seen much further, but was stopped by police, Bishop Of Visoki Decani Monastery Sava Janjic said that this was untrue.

“Kosovo police didn’t stop the vehicle. From security camera footage around the monastery, it could be clearly seen that the Islamists stopped the vehicle in front of the monastery and the police arrived after, checking their documents and searching the car,” said Father Sava. According to Father Sava, presenting unverified information gives the impression that the police are, for unknown reasons, downplaying the situation, and this is of no benefit to the citizens of Kosovo, regardless of their origin, because terrorism is a threat for all. “Also, this approach undermines the trust of the Church in Kosovo Police and the protection of Serbian Orthodox Church sites that are no longer under the protection of KFOR,” said Janjic.
