Kosovo Assembly MP from Vetevendosje Movement, Ilir Deda, said for RTV Dukagjni that this year will be the year of early elections.

He said he does not believe that the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Hashim Thaci, will be elected for the president. According to him, the new elections could take place by April.

“We should return to the election of the president by the citizens. I think that Kosovo needs a president that has the legitimacy of the votes of the citizens,” Deda said.

“ Thaci will not have the sufficient quorum of 80 MPs on the day of the voting at the Assembly and neither the support of the international community. No one form the state officials met him in the U.S. for an official meeting. The Embassy rebutted his announcements that he has the support of the U.S for the position of the president. Finally, the most important issue is whether the population would support the president,” Deda said.
