Kosovo Women’s Network, Kosovo Open Data and Girl’s Coding Kosovo, launched a smart phone app yesterday called EcShlire (Walk Freely) through which people will be able to report sexual harassment in Kosovo. The civil society activist Igballe Rugova said the idea came after a report published a few days ago by the Kosovo Women’s Network stated that around 48 percent of Kosovo citizens have experienced sexual harassment but the number of those who report it to the relevant authorities is quite low. Canadian Ambassador to Croatia, Daniel Maksymiuk, who was also a donor to the project, said this project addresses cultural issues but also builds strong relationships with the elected authorities and state institutions. Blerta Thaci from Girl’s Coding Kosovo said the program is free and can be downloaded by all those who use Android phones. She said that now everyone can report sexual harassment within seconds.
