The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representatives had a meeting yesterday with the leadership of the Municipality of Lipjan/Lipljan to discuss the UNDP project Confidence Building through Cultural Protection in Kosovo. On this occasion, Alexandra Meierhans from UNDP announced that the EU has allocated one million euros for this project. “Kosovo has a rich cultural and religious heritage, so through the implementation of this project we aim to support the renovation of religious buildings,” Meierhans said. She explained that to benefit from this project, the selected municipalities must be multi-ethnic and have at least two buildings of different religious faiths. The Mayor of Lipjan, Imri Ahmeti, said these kind of projects are always welcome. “We are ready to fulfill our obligations and, jointly with representatives of the two religious communities, we will carefully decide through which projects this programme should be applied,” Ahmeti said.
