During the election campaign for the Serbian parliamentary elections, some leaders of political parties visited Kosovo, while entry into Kosovo  for others like the President of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS), Vojislav Seselj and the Chief of the Serbian General Staff, Ljubisa Dikovic, was denied in advance. The reasons, as Petrit Selimi, the Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Government of Kosovo, says, are that they are war criminals and that they will never enter Kosovo.

Also, two nights ago the entry was banned to the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric because, as pointed out by Selimi, he had failed to announce his arrival 48 hours in advance i.e. to comply with procedure.

Upcoming parliamentary elections in Serbia were the motive for the arrival of the leaders of certain political parties to Kosovo: Aleksandar Vucic, Ivica Dacic and Sanda Raskovic-Ivic had the opportunity to address their supporters in Kosovo.

According to the Acting Foreign Minister, Petrit Selimi they have asked for the permission to enter Kosovo few weeks before their entry, as agreed by the Treaty of Brussels, and consequently the entry has been approved. However, he believes that not all complies with the agreement, because hate speech was used during the visits.

“Even the allowed entries to Kosovo, for the arrival of the Prime Minister Vucic and Minister Dacic; and we’ll talk about it in Brussels, because the language of hatred that has been used in some cases, is not good for good neighbourly relations and does not serve the normalization of relations between Serbia and Kosovo. The man who comes to Kosovo, and says that Milosevic was right, does not deserve our attention and does not deserve to come to Kosovo, since it falls within the domain of hate speech.”

However, some politicians from Serbia are not allowed to enter Kosovo, among them are the President of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Seselj and the General Ljubisa Dikovic.

“The reason to not allow Seselj to enter is not because of the election campaign, but because he is a war criminal, who did much evil to families in Kosovo, and he will never be allowed to enter Kosovo. It is known that the General Dikovic is a suspect for some of the most horrific crimes in Kosovo, because in Batajnica and lakes, in Serbia, were found the corpses of Albanians and while he has no responsibility for his actions, and he will not be able to enter Kosovo. “
