Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, during the meeting of the government today said that Kosovo still remains strongly committed to strengthening the rule of law and fighting organized crime and corruption as one of the most important priorities of the government.

“The government has supported and will support by all means the institutions of justice to do their work in the fight against crime so that we create a better and safer environment for our citizens. The government appreciates the role of EULEX and the continued support of the United States in strengthening the rule of law in our country.  Today, we reaffirm our position and our will and welcome the extension of the mandate of EULEX in Kosovo. We are convinced that the presence of EULEX in Kosovo will only accelerate the necessary reform of the justice institutions and will contribute to Kosovo’s European agenda.  Simultaneously, the government considers that the conditions are now suitable for the transfer of more responsibilities from EULEX to local institutions and for this mission to focus more on monitoring, mentoring and advising,” Mustafa said. The extension of the mandate of EULEX is expected to be approved also by the Kosovo Assembly prior to 14 June.
