“Which good things the secession of Kosovo brought to anybody? How many Serbian holy shrines are in Kosovo, which have remained preserved through the centuries, even at the Turkish times? Overnight, they are now in some kind of independent state, away from those who respect them and profess in them their religion,” said new Serbian mufti Abdulah Numan, emphasizing that his statements should not be read through the glasses of politics.

Numan’s recent statement that “Republika Srpska should be abolished” attracted great attention. He claims that this position was ‘taken out of the general meaning.’ “I’m not a politician neither I intend to be. But what we got from the separation of Kosovo, or division of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Republika Srpska and B&H Federation? Neither the Serbs, nor Croats, nor Bosnians had seen anything out of it. Even the atheist and Dictator Tito managed to bring Bosnia into some form of tolerance and religious coexistence, what is now almost inconceivable,” he said.

Numan points out that all the peoples of the former Yugoslavia are “people of one root” that speak almost identical language, stressing that they should re-live together as soon as possible. According to him, divisions, ramps and borders are the way towards their destruction.
