Protest against Sunny Valley and Tsar Lazar statue held in Mitrovicë/Mitrovica

About fifty citizens’ protested for about 30 minutes near Ibër Bridge in Mitrovicë/Mitrovica south on Sunday.  They protested against the placement of Tsar Lazar’s statue in Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north and the construction of the Sunny Valley settlement in Zvecan/Zveçan.

The organizer of this protest, Ardion Gashi, justified the low turnout of protestors, saying that Mayor of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica south municipality, Agim Bahtiri and other leaders of political entities have called on citizens not to join the protest, the online edition of TV21 reported.

Mayor of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica south municipality, Agim Bahtiri, said that he does not know who organized this protest, but he did not hesitate to take the credit for the low turnout of protestors.

Bahtiri said that Mitrovicë/Mitrovica municipality does not have the political power to stop the construction of Sunny Valley in north; however he expressed his confidence that the removal of Ibër Barricade is nearing.

The protest has ended peacefully and no incidents were reported.

MIA: No indication for terrorist attacks in Kosovo

Kosovo Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nehat Mustafa, said that Kosovo cannot be a base of terrorist attacks as it happened in Istanbul, Bangladesh and Paris.

Mustafa made these comments, after the statements of Kosovo Bishopric Bishop Dodë Gjergji who said that Prishtinë/Pristina, Skopje and Tirana might be hit by terrorist attacks similar to the attack in Istanbul.

According to Mustafa there is no indication that Kosovo might be a target of terrorist attacks. He emphasized that there is no information that any Kosovo citizen has joined the wars in Iraq and Syria during last eight month.

Djuric accuses Ferizaj/Urosevac authorities of ethnic cleansings

The decision of Ferizaj/Urosevac municipal councilors to change the name of Srpski Babus/Srpski Babush village to Babush has triggered the reaction of the Director of the Serbian Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric, the online version of RTK reported

He considered this decision as an attempt to erase the history of the Serbs existence in Kosovo, and accused the local authorities of ethnic cleansing.

House in Historic Centre of Prizren sent on fire

One of the oldest houses in Historic Centre of Prizren has been set on fire for the third time on Sunday.

The house is part of the compound of the Catholic Church and is listed as a cultural heritage site under the protection of Kosovo Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, TV21 reported.
